What changed
Air China began scheduled service between Beijing and Keflavík Airport on Monday 26 October. Keflavík Airport says the route operates three times a week and includes a stop in Copenhagen.
The launch matters because it is the first scheduled link between Keflavík and mainland China. The first arrival and departure appeared in the airport flight information on 26 October, so this is an operating service rather than only a future route announcement.
Understand the Copenhagen stop
This is not a nonstop flight. The official route description places Copenhagen between Beijing and Keflavík in both directions. Before buying a ticket, read the complete itinerary supplied by Air China and confirm the flight numbers, total journey time, baggage handling and any instructions for the stop.
Entry and transit requirements depend on your passport, itinerary and personal circumstances. Check the official requirements that apply to you rather than relying on a general route summary.
Who may find the route useful
The service gives visitors travelling from China another way to reach Iceland on one airline itinerary. It may also offer an option for passengers starting in Iceland who are travelling towards Beijing. The airport announcement does not confirm a suitable fare, seat or connection for any individual traveller.
Compare the complete journey, including the Copenhagen stop and the transfer after arrival in Iceland. Keflavík Airport is outside Reykjavík. Our Reykjavík guide can help with the city part of a visit, while Travel conditions links to current road, weather and safety information.
What to do before travelling
- Check your exact travel date and current flight status with Air China and Keflavík Airport.
- Read the full Copenhagen stop instructions on your booking.
- Confirm baggage rules and whether bags are checked through to the final airport.
- Leave a realistic margin before any timed activity or onward journey in Iceland.
- Choose airport transport using your actual arrival time and accommodation location.
A route launch is useful planning news, but the confirmed booking remains the source for your own journey.
