Stardalur is an established traditional climbing area on Stardalshnjúkur. Its cracks and column faces offer a different proposition from a bolted sport crag. The local account explicitly notes that some face routes are difficult to protect.

Access and local responsibilities

Use the established approach path rather than widening tracks across the slope. The published description estimates about 15 minutes to Miðhamrar from its parking area; confirm the current parking and land access arrangement locally.

A modest technical grade does not mean straightforward gear placements. Research the route’s protection and descent as carefully as its climbing difficulty.

Grades follow the cited records. They are not conversions or safety ratings. Missing lengths are left unspecified. This is a selection, not a complete route list. Confirm the line, equipment, protection, descent and current condition before climbing.
